Hi everyone, I wondered if someone can help me out here. I belong to a number of “curly girl method” groups where the general consensus seems to be that keratin smoothing treatments (like Goldwell Kerasilk) are bad and will damage your hair. However, i have talked to a few hairdressers (NOT curly girl hairdressers or curl specialists) that
I just got a Cezanne smoothing treatment and have been very happy with the results. Not sure if it’s technically a keratin treatment, but it’s formaldehyde free and has a similar effect (de-frizzing,smoothing, minor straightening, lasts weeks to months depending on which version you get). My stylist did warn me that if sometimes lifts color Unfortunately, keratin isn't for those with a tight budget. It cost me about $450 (but that includes tip and also a hair trimming, so it was probably more around $300 bare basics). I think there are shady internet home kits, but I would really recommend getting at least your first time done at a salon. Hair botox treatment is a non-surgical hair treatment that involves using a hair mask containing natural ingredients and botox. Botox, a neurotoxin, is known for its ability to relax muscles and reduce facial wrinkles. In hair botox treatment, botox is used to fill the gaps in the hair shaft, thus repairing damaged hair and preventing breakage. Most clarifying shampoos just have a lot of sulfates in them. Bottom Line: Your hair isn't gonna fall out or melt off and using the shampoo won't completely strip your treatment out all at once. But sulfates and sodium chloride will decrease the longevity of your treatment. Probably by 25-50%, depending on how frequently you wash your hair. Please don't try to "undo" the perm with a keratin treatment ! it will highly damage your hair ! If you still wanna go through with it , do a strand test ! You can undo a perm by combing through perm solution in your hair. Neutralize damp hair for 10 minutes. Rinse hair thoroughly but do not shampoo, condition as usual. My salon (and many others) have used formaldehyde-free keratin treatments for years for the safety of staff and clients. It’s important for people to do their own research about the ingredients in products they use though, because some salons still use formaldehyde especially for the “Brazilian blowout” style treatments.
